First Aid at Work
FAIB-accredited 3-day blended First Aid at Work (FAW) course in Newcastle — online learning plus two practical days for medium and higher-risk workplaces.
Become a qualified emergency first aider in a single day with our hands-on, FAIB-accredited EFAW course in Newcastle — ideal cover for lower-risk workplaces.

Our one-day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course gives lower-risk workplaces a fully qualified emergency first aider in just 1 day. It is the right level of cover for offices, shops, gyms, salons and similar settings, and is practical, hands-on and built for complete beginners. No prior experience is needed.
Accredited by the First Aid Industry Body (FAIB) and meeting Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements, the course is delivered in Newcastle at Pottery Bank Community Centre by experienced trainers. You will spend most of the day practising rather than listening — CPR on manikins, the recovery position, bandaging and realistic casualty scenarios — so you leave genuinely confident to act in an emergency, not just certified.
You can train with us on a public course in Newcastle from £95 per person, or we can deliver EFAW on site to your whole team at your premises. Under the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, your First Aid Needs Assessment decides the level of cover you need; if you are unsure whether EFAW or the three-day First Aid at Work course is right for you, call us on 0191 820 6199 and we will help you decide.
This course is ideal for appointed workplace first aiders in lower-risk settings — offices, shops, gyms, salons and small premises — as well as small-business owners, managers, and anyone who needs a recognised emergency first aid qualification in a single day. It is fully compliant with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements.
No prior experience or qualifications are required; the course is designed for beginners. If your workplace is a medium or higher-risk environment, the three-day First Aid at Work course is usually the more appropriate qualification, and we are happy to advise.
Assessment is practical and continuous throughout the day, with no formal written exam — your trainer guides you as you go and almost everyone passes. On successful completion you receive the nationally recognised, FAIB-accredited Emergency First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years, after which you retake the one-day course to requalify.
Easy to reach by road and public transport, with parking nearby. Prefer to train at your own premises? We bring the course to you across the North East.

Practical, hands-on sessions led by experienced trainers — here's what to expect on the day.

It is ideal for anyone designated as a first aider in a lower-risk workplace, as well as managers, business owners and individuals who want essential emergency first aid skills. No prior experience is needed — the course is designed for beginners.
For most workplaces, the FAIB-accredited course is enough. Our Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification fully meets the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requirements and is the recognised standard for lower-risk workplaces. There's a common myth that you must hold an Ofqual-regulated 'Level 3' (RQF) certificate, but the HSE treats FAIB-accredited and regulated RQF first aid courses as equally valid — what matters is that training is delivered by a competent, accredited provider. Your workplace First Aid Needs Assessment (not the awarding route) decides the level of cover you need. If you specifically need the regulated RQF version, just ask and we'll arrange it.
For lower-risk workplaces such as offices, shops, gyms and salons, yes — EFAW is the recognised qualification for that level of risk. Medium and higher-risk workplaces usually need the three-day First Aid at Work course, and we can advise if you are unsure.
The FAIB-accredited Emergency First Aid at Work certificate is valid for 3 years. After that you retake the one-day EFAW course to requalify and remain certified.
There is no formal written exam. Assessment is practical and continuous throughout the day — your trainer assesses you through demonstrations and exercises as you go, and almost everyone passes.
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for practical activities, as you will kneel during CPR practice. All training materials and equipment are provided, so you only need a notepad and pen if you would like to take notes.
